Need A Good Laugh? Try Some Trampoline Fails

Few things are as funny as watching videos on YouTube of people wiping out. Now, most of the time when I watch these, I am looking at skateboarders doing stupid stuff or people on bmx bikes trying to do stunts. But not today. Today I found the best thing ever – trampoline fails.

Some of these people are trying to show off and do tricks, and some of these just are failing at jumping on a trampoline for fun. But either way, the end result is the same – a bit of pain for them and a bit of laughter for us. If you’re new to these types of videos, then I can help you out.

Below you will find some of the top videos on trampoline fails that are currently on YouTube. So, take some time to sit down and watch through them and tell me if you don’t laugh your ass off. Then, head on over to YouTube for some additional vids just like these.

10 Best YouTube Sketch Comedy Channels You’re Not Watching

When it comes to funny things to watch online, there is no shortage of content on YouTube.  And of the thousands upon thousands of options on the site, the sketch comedy channels are some of the funniest.

If you’re not going to YouTube for sketch comedy videos, then you are really missing out my friend.  To help you get started, here are some of the best channels for this content that you’re not watching.

1. Funny or Die
Okay, so this one you’ve probably heard of thanks to Will Ferrell.  But the truth is that there is a lot of funny going on here. My favorite is the “Between Two Ferns” recurring sketch.  But there is plenty for everyone to laugh at.

2. College Humor
I have a bit of a love hate relationship with this one as a lot of their vids are geared towards men. And often at the expense of women.  However a lot of their vids are funny to watch.

3. Smoosh
If you like your comedy with a large dose of pop culture then this is the perfect place for you.

4. ForSkitsAndGiggles
Like popular music, parodies and a guy making a fool of himself? This channel has all that and more. Expect wackiness like a guy in a Batman costume singing Britney Spears.

5. The Second City Network
If you enjoy improv comedy skits, then this channel is your new home. It features all kinds of videos from improv groups. Guaranteed to have you in giggles.
6. 5 Second Films
Got a short attention span? Then this is the perfect place for you to check out. See if these super short vids can make you laugh.

7. Barely Political
Remember the wildly popular Obama Girl video? Yeah that came from this channel.  They do a lot of funny sketches that are worth a watch.

8. Nerdist
Thisn one may surprise you but there are a lot of really funny videos on this channel. Their most popular series is All Star Celebrity Bowling.

9. UCB Comedy
Like things like SNL? Then the sketches on this channel are just what you need.

10. Epic Meal Time
If you always wondered how a crazy cooking show would translate, then this is your answer.  It’s all crazy food challenges that will give you a laugh.

Starting Your Own Comedy Podcast

A great way to gain visibility as a new or up and coming comedian is with your very own comedy podcast. If you take a look at the podcasts in the iTunes store, then you will notice that this is a very popular trend.

People enjoy listening to podcasts while driving or commuting to work, doing housework or working out. Sometimes, I even listen to new podcasts while doing mindless work during the day.

Anyone can start their own comedy podcast as the equipment needed in minimal and anyone can upload their audio podcast files to iTunes or another hosting place.

To get started, you first need to get yourself some good gear. This will be a microphone to record the podcast and a computer to edit the audio files. You can get some great gear recommendations on this site to get your home podcast studio up and running.

As for audio file editing software, you can use the free Audacity software as it is easy to use and is perfect for the job. Of course, you can buy other programs but there is really no need.

Now, you will need a quiet place to record the podcast so that you don’t get any reverb or other weird background noises. The cheap way to do this can also be found on the same audio tips site, which is using a blanket over your head in a closet. Sounds silly, but really does result in quality sound on your podcast recording.

Probably the only thing worse than not being funny on your comedy podcast is having terrible sound quality that no one wants to listen to the entire thing.

Once you are ready to record your podcast, just set up a website for yourself (if you don’t already have one) to market it. And make a schedule of how often you will post new episodes. Choose something that you WILL stick to so that people will know when they can find the next installment of it.

Over time, you will build up an audience, which will help you sell tickets at your live shows as well as comedy albums that you can sell on your own website.

And if you haven’t listened to any comedy podcasts before today, Paste Magazine did a list in Dec. 2013 of the best ones out there. Find it here. Give a few of them a listen and see if you can identify what they all have in common that makes them popular, then focus on that for your podcast. Good luck!

Best HBO Comedy Specials of All Time

Many of the best HBO specials aired decades ago, but they are still watched and remembered today. For many great comedians, specials like these represented the turning points in their careers. Many of these specials are helping the comedians in question get new fans, even when some more recent HBO comedy specials have already faded out of the public’s consciousness.

Eddie Murphy’s 1983 HBO special Delirious was what truly turned Eddie Murphy into a household name. The special managed to combine some very raunchy humor with some darkly absurd humor. Eddie Murphy literally swore hundreds of times during the special, and yet his take on children and ice cream trucks is one of the parts that most of his fans remember today.

Dana Carvey scored a big and memorable hit with his 1995 HBO special Critic’s Choice. The comedians of the 1990s were known for their keen observational humor, and in this special, Dana Carvey managed to deliver some of the best observational humor of the decade. Many music fans will also still appreciate his singer-songwriter parodies. Dana Carvey’s skill with impersonations was prominently displayed during hisCritic’s Choice special. It’s quite possible that as a result of this special, many people started referring to the HBO channel as ‘hobo,’ just like Dana Carvey famously did here.

In 1990, comedienne Paula Poundstone gave a hilarious performance in her HBO special Cats, Cops, and Stuff. On stage, Paula Poundstone had a down-to-earth persona that allowed her to connect with audiences very well, easily bridging the gap and making people comfortable enough to laugh. Given Paula Poundstone’s impressive presence on Twitter, neither Paula Poundstone nor any of her best comedy specials will be forgotten any time soon. Since Twitter has made the gap between celebrities and their fans even smaller, Paula Poundstone’s down-to-earth persona should only become more effective.

George Carlin is one of the most famous stand-up comedians of all time, and his 1999 HBO special You Are All Diseased contains some of his most memorable and well-known comedic material. Carlin managed to cover a very wide range of topics in this HBO special, including advertising, religion, family, and cigars. Some of Carlin’s humor here was edgy and political, and some of it was cynical and instructive. You Are All Diseased is highly rated among Carlin’s long-time fans, and it’s a good choice for people that are looking for a good introduction to George Carlin’s comedy.

Best Comedy Movies of All Time

The best American comedic movies of all time are Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, The Breakfast Club, Dumb and Dumber, and Office Space.

Blazing Saddles (1974) is a western movie that takes place in the little town of Rock Ridge. Rock Ridge is an obstacle in the way of Hedy Lamar, who wants to build a railroad in its place. He is determined to do whatever it takes to force the people of the town to leave. Blazing Saddles is great because it covers a wide spectrum of issues that us as viewers should not be laughing at like racism, the brutality of animals, the KKK, and many other religious/political subjects. Mel Brooks presents these issues in a way that is clever and gives us comedic scenes like the bad guys waiting at a toll to get to Rock Ridge, the heroes’ plan to trap the bad guys in the town to blow them up, showing rag dolls flying in the air with the town of cardboard, and lets not forget the most memorable scene of the film when both sides are fighting outside the picture and into the Warner Brother studios lot.

Young Frankenstein (1974) is a comedic take on Dr. Frederick Frankenstein. Young Frankenstein is trying to move out of the shadows of his family name, but he puts this aside when he finds his grandfather’s notes about reanimation. He creates a monster with the assistance of his friends Igor and Inga. When the monster escapes, it’s up to Frankenstein to find him. During the monster’s adventures, the village people chase him with pitchforks. By the end of the film the monster and Elizabeth live happily together. What makes this film great is Frankenstein’s trip to Transylvania and how short his journey was when in reality the trip was longer than it was portrayed in the film. The relationship between Frankenstein and Igor is another aspect of the film that stands out because of how Frankenstein is insistent in how his name should be pronounced “Fronk-en-steen.”

The Breakfast Club (1985) presents a group of diverse teenagers who have to spend their detention at school only to find that they are more similar than any of them realized. The Breakfast Club is a great because of how all the characters interact with each other as well as the scenes between the assistant principal Richard Vernon and “the criminal,” John Bender. John challenges authority, which pisses off the principal and causes him to yell at John for his attitude.

Dumb and Dumber (1994) shows the journey of two off the wall guys, Harry and Lloyd, who come across a briefcase and have every intention to bring it back to Aspen, CO into the hands of its rightful owner. During their journey from Rhode Island to Aspen, criminals, who want the suitcase full of cash, pursue them. Harry and Lloyd spend the ransom cash. The end of the film shows the best buddies walking home because their ride broke down. No one can forget the classic scene where Harry’s tongue gets stuck to the ski lift poll. The reason this movie is great is because it has no boundaries. Because Harry and Lloyd are stupid, they get away with so much and it’s a joy to watch them from beginning to end.

Office Space (1999) is a comedy about Peter Gibbons, a programmer, who is dissatisfied with his job. When he undergoes hypnosis, he starts to see things in a clearer light. He comes up with this plan to bring the company down with a computer program. By the end of the film the office is burned to the ground, Peter finds a satisfying job in construction, and Milton is relaxing comfortably in a Mexican resort with traveler’s checks. This film’s greatness lies in its simplicity and how people can relate to hating their jobs. The scene where Peter and his friends Michael Bolton and Samir Nagheenanajar take a printer from the office and proceed to beat it in a field with bats is a classic scene because one of the friends has to pull the other away from the machine because he gets carried away. It represents the frustration that’s been building up because of the job.

Best Comedy Central Roasts of All Time

Comedy Central roasts are often a great time for everyone. There are few professions that are going to be better at running a roast than a comedian, after all. Here are a few of the best roasts in Comedy Central history.

Hugh Heffner

One of the reasons why this was one of the best, is because The Hef falls neatly into the category of someone who’s good to roast for comedy. First, the person has to be a good sport about it. He has to look only slightly uncomfortable here and there, but mostly waving it all off and laughing about it. Secondly, he has to have plenty of things that are good topics for ridicule, and Hefner certainly has that in spades. One of the main roasters for Hugh Hefner was Drew Carey. Other roasters included Sarah Silverman, Gilbert Gottfried and the Roastmaster Jimmy Kimmel. This roast took place in 2001.

Bob Saget

Bob Saget’s roast took place in 2008. John Stamos was the Roastmaster. One of the main other roasters was Norm Macdonald. What’s particularly funny about this roast, and Norm MacDonald’s part in particular, is it’s subtlety. Norm MacDonald makes fun of Bob in a seriously roundabout way by simply telling terribly bad jokes from a book he had gotten from his father that was called “Jokes for Retirement Parties.” What’s hilarious is the slow way the audience comes to realize that what Norm Macdonald is actually doing is poking fun of the completely awful jokes Bob told on “American’s Funniest Home Videos” throughout the years.

Donald Trump

The roast of Donald Trump was in 2011. It included roasters including Snoop Dogg. Even though Snoop Dogg isn’t technically a comic, he is capable of being funny when he wants. The main thing is that he was able to sell some of the jokes, even if they were written by someone else. Watching Snoop Dogg deliver a comedic routine is practically worth the watch all by itself. Other comics included Marlee Matlin, and the roastmaster was Seth Macfarlane.

This roast happened in 2012. The roastmaster was Jane Lynch. Other roasters included Jeff Ross, Katey Segal, Carrie Fisher, Amy Schumer, Gilbert Gottfried and even Wayne Brady. Roseanne’s ex-husband Tom Arnold even showed up as a surprise guest right at the end. Even though she was the one being roasted, what made the roast so great was the fact that Roseanne decided to steal the show by singing the last lines to “Star Spangled Banner” at the end of the night. She actually sang the lines for real, instead of the sarcastic bad version she did on purpose famously back in 1990.

Charlie Sheen

One of the most watched roasts of all time was the roast of Charlie Sheen in 2011. The roastmaster was Seth MacFarlane, and it included appearances from roasters like William Shatner, Jon Lovitz, Amy Schumer and even bizarrely, Mike Tyson. The introduction was played by the famous musician Slash. Needless to say, it was a pretty unique show all in all and you’re not likely to watch Mike Tyson doing a comedy routine anywhere else anytime soon.

The comedienne has put in a lot of work in to this album, which will undoubtedly appeal to many fans out there. Some people will appreciate that this album will provide a little insight in to her life and help people understand more about what her experiences are. The album will actually cover a surprisingly broad amount of experiences, which will help draw in many new fans. The material is wildly inappropriate, but that has added to its overall appeal in many ways.

3. Kumail Nanjiani, “Beta Male”

Many fans of alt-comedy will be interested in this release, since it will undoubtedly draw in a lot of attention from people. This could be a great way for people to get in to the alt-comedy scene, which will add to the experience people will get. This is a great debut album, which will undoubtedly appeal to the sensibilities of many new fans. The comedian will actually discuss some of the unique experiences he had growing up in a Muslim home and how it shaped his perspective. But the album has plenty to it, which will help people enjoy the experience that they get from it.
